Enough about us and who we are, let’s talk about Hackney Wick!

If you are considering moving to Hackney Wick or have even lived there for a while and STILL haven’t realised the greatness and huge potential it has, here are some reasons for you!

Just across the River Lea is the Olympic Park and within a 15 minutes walking distance the newly regenerated Stratford, which now boasts East London’s primary development areas and retail destinations, namely Westfield shopping centre and the surrounding East Village development.

  • Hackney Wick, in many regards to those who have moved here in recent times, is said to be the new Shoreditch, due in most part to the exodus of young creatives and artists who have moved to this area, attracted by cheaper rents and bigger spaces thanks to the conversion of many of the areas former industrial sites such as disused factories and warehouses. former industrial yards such as the ones at Queen’s Yard, a hop and a skip away from the station, now boast numerous microbreweries, craft pizzerias and other exuberant eateries which provide the area with a multitude of mouth watering options come lunch and dinner time.

  • The area encompassing Hackney Wick and nearby Fish Island is home to a high concentration of office and commercial space which is waiting to be used by small and big business alike, entrepreneurs and creatives alike. The abundance of commercial property in the area makes it a suitable destination for people starting up their businesses and should be taken advantage of as the area is seeing continuous development. Whether you’re looking at opening your own restaurant or cafe, looking for office space to base your business from or searching for studio space in order to create your art, Hackney Wick is sure to appeal to you.

  • Hackney Wick is an area that has seen some of the most extensive development since the Olympics in an area located just opposite on the west side of the bank of the Lea and as such is an area that now has flowing links to extensive development with the growth of other commercial and residential development in nearby Stratford and Hackney in the years following the Olympics.

Over the last month, the team at Mainyard Studios have been working to create  “Mainyard Studios’ Guide to Hackney Wick ” for anyone living in, working in or considering moving to Hackney Wick. This is because there is a wealth of local, independent and amazing businesses in Hackney Wick and its surrounding areas that are being overshadowed by larger companies and they deserve more attention from the area’s residents.

So, to combat this issue, we have compiled a list of our favourite businesses in 10 different categories.

We have based this list on quality of service/product, price for service/product provided, customer service, accessibility and many, MANY reviews that support why the business is amazing and worth your time.
